Darts 2007 - 1st Half - Week 7 - Forrest Hills (away)

SUMMARY

hmmmm...not sure how I feel about this week...everyone wasn't shooting up to their potential...we had 4 players under a 45 average...that's not very good...but on the bright side...wins are wins...and we did take down the first place team by a score of 9-6....so good job guys on a winning week...but we need more consistency...

THE LOW LIGHTS

"dolla bills" were flying...that's not too hard to believe once you see some of the scores...we had 23 in fines...that's our highest total in the last 5 weeks...and this week we have a tie for the prestigious "Skippy Award"...Ed and Andy racked up 5 fines a piece....well the fines didn't stop there....Ted had 4, Johnny, Jr and Kenny each had 3....and yours truly had 0....imagine that...not owing any money in fines...i bet you guys wish you knew how to do that...missed ins helped the kitty with 12 in fines...that's a lot of missed ins...that's good for the kitty but bad for our record...we need to hit those ins...7 under 20's will be reflected in the averages too...

Averages were either hit or miss...but Andy shot a horrendous 31.98 and Ted had a 39.10...Johnny (44.20) and Jr (44.14) rounded out the under 45's...everyone on this team should be able to hit over a 45 average easily...but shooting less than a 40 average should be grounds for dolla bills...Kenny's lowest game of the night was a 48 and mine was a 57...our lowest games were higher than everyone else's average...that means one or two things...1) Kenny and Jeff were on fire...yup that was true....2) Everyone else (except Ed) shot fairly horrid...luckily they missed a ton of out shots and we were able to steal a few wins...but we were playing from behind a lot last night....we gotta keep hitting high scores to stay in the game...we can't hope that they miss out shots....

Andy shot the team low of a 1...are you f'n kidding me...I haven't seen a shot that low since Skippy graced our presence at darts...oh wait I almost forgot...Jr did it last week...guys...a 1? that's really not that good in case you didn't know...well here is a quote from Andy last week..."Jr...a 1...a ONE...YOU SHOT A ONE!!! ... but Jr shooting a ONE was even more impressive." ...hmmmm....I guess you want to be just like him or something since YOU SHOT A ONE!!!!...ughghggh...what am I going to do with the "boobie twins"???? Rounding out the horrid low shots were Teddy with a 7 and Johnny with a 9....

We went from 4 missed ins last week to 17 missed ins this week...all I can say is that is WAYYYYYY too many...missing in shots gets you behind real quick...Ed led the way with 5 missed ins...normally you hit the ins much better than that...Kenny missed 4, Jr missed 3, Ted and Johnny missed 2 each...and I missed 1....Andy shot a perfect 1 for 1...good job Andy...it saved us dolla bills....

We had 14 missed outs this week...that's a lot of missed outs...out shots win games...we gotta take our time and focus on each and every shot...especially when they will win the game....Ed, Andy and Jeff all had 3 missed outs...Johnny and Ted had 2 missed outs...and Jr missed at his only shot at an out...

Ed strugged at cricket for the 2nd week in a row...he shot a very skippy like 1.00...Ed that stinks...you can do much better than that....Kenny (1.60) and Andy (1.44) rounded out the culprits who shot under a 2.0....aim at the fat part...we need to have at least 2.0 averages in cricket minimum in order to compete...

THE HIGH LIGHTS

We had a nice team average of 49.93...but don't let it fool you...Jeff's impressive 70.08 and Kenny's extraordinary 63.83 average went a long way to bumping up that average...Ed's 48.78 rounded out the only other player to shoot over a 45 this week...guys everyone has to shoot at the minimum 45 averages...but everyone should be striving closer to 50...

It's not hard to believe after seeing Jeff and Kenny's averages that tons were flying...I led the way with 7 tons (33% of my shots) and Kenny had 5 tons (29.41% of his shots)....for those not math inclined...that means 1 out of every 3 shots were a ton for us...not bad huh??? Ted had the high score of the night with a 140...and Ed and Johhny each contributed 1 ton....last week as a team we shot 2.33% for tons...this week we raised it to 11.72%....nice job...oh in case you didn't read all the words...Jr and Andy (aka the "boobie twins") did not help the ton cause...

Jeff led the way with 3 ins this week....Ed had 2 ins, and Ted, Andy and John had 1 in each...Jr went 0 for 3 at the ins...Andy was a perfect 1 for 1....but still too many missed outs as a team...we need to hit those ins...

Johnny was killing the outs last night and posted the team high with 3 and one of them was an amazing double cork out for the win...jeez that Johnny is good when he wants to be....Andy did a good job and hit 2....Jeff and Ed each contributed with 1 out...Jr and Ted went a combined 0 for 3....and Kenny didn't even have a shot at an out...great job hitting the outs...but still a lot of missed outs along the way....we need to hit them more consistently....

A shaky week at cricket...fortunately we went 2-1...but three scores below a 2.0 isn't very good....Johnny led the way with a very nice 2.75 average....I followed closely behind with a 2.60 average and Jr rounded out the >=2.0 shooters with an even 2.0....Jr was helped out with a 7 mark round....Johnny threw a 5 mark round....nice job guys...

Everyone except Ed shot a >=3-mark round...Jeff led the way with 3....Jr and Andy had 2 each....and Kenny and Johnny had 1 each...

CONCLUSION

Missed ins and missed outs were flying...and inconsistent shooting was the theme of the night...but on the good side...Andy and Johnny banged multiple outs...everyone except Jr and Kenny contributed on the in shots...Kenny and I were ton'ing it up...we went 2-1 in cricket and 9-6 overall against the 1st place team....let's get the consistency back week to week and we'll do just fine...

This week coming up we play Red, White and Brews...they are in last place....this should be a good week to get back in the hunt for 1st place which we are currently 5 games out...the rest of the top 4 teams are very close...only 12 games separate first place from 4th place...Teddy get the light fixed on your dartboard and get back to practicing...we need you to shoot well...Everyone else try picking up a dart every now and then and throw it at a dartboard...practice helps....
